A Top-50 UK Law Firm had an output requirement of millions of pages every year, but neither the budget nor the space to provide a large fleet of devices.

They needed a proactive managed print service to deliver the exceptionally high machine availability their users demanded even when up to One Million Pages every year would be produced on just one of their fleet of 55 page per minute Office Multifunction devices.

Using Asset Management software, they had done some benchmarking to understand what level of service the users expected. Their old desktop printer fleet that was considered reliable, was only producing a few thousand pages each month, and consequently had only 16 faults per thousand pages.

By engaging with the users directly, through focus groups and attendance and key secretarial or Department meetings, we identified some of the root causes of the faults and the frustrations that they experienced without a Manage Print Service in place. The users simply did not have the time to load paper, consumables and log service calls – and so they often didn’t! However, an already stretched facilities and IT team didn’t have the resource to look after the fleet.

The results were immediate. The Multifunction devices performed better, the users had less interaction with the machines and little interaction if a fault did occur, and IT and Facilities resource was minimised. Users were delighted and extremely satisfied with the new service.

The Xerox Multifunction devices and our Platinum Service offering smashed the previous benchmark of device performance. Even with an average of more than 250,000 pages per machine per year across 27 Multifunction devices, and some of the devices doing 250,000 pages in a 3-month quarter, our Platinum Service delivered a device performance 4 times better than the previous benchmark.
