Clients & Case Studies

An International Financial Services company re-branded and needed their every-day users to be able to produce their key customer facing documents On Brand every time.

Having invested heavily in their re-branding, they needed to ensure they got the return on that investment, and produced the right colour every time.

They were producing every day type documents – Word, PDF and PowerPoint – on PCs and needed the sort of colour matching that is normally only possible with design applications on MACs.

The Challenge
  • Even with Word, PDF and PowerPoint documents – provide a solution that prints the correct corporate colours matched to the original Pantones.
  • Ensure that it is simple to use, with no colour-management tasks required by the users – they are finance experts not colour or printing experts.
  • Make it easy to maintain so that the right colour is produced consistently time after time – even on every day office paper

We worked with them to get sample Word, PDF and PowerPoint documents, to produce these on their current fleet of colour printers and understand the existing capabilities that were not proving satisfactory to the business. From here, we analysed these colours and compared them to the original brand colours and quantified a significant gap between the current situation and the ideal state. In one instance one of the corporate colours had been deleted from a PowerPoint template as the current output was just too far away from the intended colour.

The Solution
  • The Xerox DocuColour 252 with Splash Colour Management solution.
  • We created custom Colour Profiles specifically for the client’s Pantone Colours
  • We created custom Colour Profiles for the client’s standard office paper.
  • Automatic correction of the colours as they arrive at the printer from Word, PDF or PowerPoint - with NO interaction required by the users.

When we implemented the solution, we used a Spectrophotometer to measure the printed colour against the benchmark of their corporate Pantone colours. We then created replacement tables in the Splash colour management that would recognise the colour being printed from Word, PDF or PowerPoint and then automatically correct it to match the Pantone reference.

The implementation was an iterative process run in conjunction with the client, until they were happy that all of their corporate colours were printing accurately - even the one that had previously been removed from the templates.

We then trained their support staff on a quick and easy calibration process to ensure that the colour was as accurate on day 1000 as day 1.

The Result
  • The user simply goes File-Print
  • Printer throughput speed still remains at 50 pages per minute
  • Simple and easy calibration
  • The right brand colour every time for every document from Brochures to Pitch Documents to Reports.
