Xerox Secure Access

Xerox Secure Access is a security option for your Xerox advanced multifunction systems. It integrates with your existing employee/student ID badge solution which enables users to log in to a Xerox multifunction system with a swipe of their magnetic or proximity ID card. Single Sign-On gives users quick, easy and secure access to permitted functions that can be tracked for accounting or regulatory requirements.

In today’s regulatory climate, businesses need sophisticated, yet simple ways of safeguarding their data–and the ability to track it. In addition, many organisations rate network security as their foremost IT challenge. IT managers are looking for ways to

protect all assets on their network. Multifunction systems are a logical place to secure networks, enhance document information security and generate activity logs.

Earlier, Xerox developed Network Authentication, where users entered a user ID and password at the device. Today, some environments require a more convenient and streamlined method. So Xerox created Xerox Secure Access, which gives organisations with an existing card-based ID system a quick and easy method of identifying users at the multifunction system. Users gain access to the device with one swipe of their ID badge. For an extra layer of security, a PIN or password can be required.

How it works

The Secure Access identification solution has two simple parts:

  • Secure Access administration software, loaded on the business’ server, handles device and user configuration and is responsible for authenticating users on the network.
  • A controller-and-card combination attached to any supported WorkCentre system.

The Secure Access solution leverages an organisation’s existing ID infrastructure without impacting existing systems. With Secure Access, a single identification step will log the user into the device for access to all walk-up features. All communication to and from the multifunction system, card reader and authentication server will be secured using industry-standard encryption mechanisms.

The Follow-You print flexibility will enable the users to print to a single queue and then release their job at any Xerox device. This reduces wastage and eliminates the need for frustrating queues at devices.

Furthermore, with Xerox EIP enabled devices:

Users can pick and choose the documents to be released or deleted

  • Print and Save feature allows a user to release a pending print job, and retain for later reprint
  • Adjust the number of copies desired
  • Obtain additional information about a pending print or fax job to help determine the user, when the job was sent, and what will be printed

Finally, once you are signed on with Xerox Secure Access, you can be signed into other Document Solutions that allow you to scan, like NSi AutoStore or ScanFlowStore, or allow you to fax like iXware.
