PrintReleaf – Plant as you Print

Almost 60% of Customers surveyed said they have sustainability goals

In partnership with PrintReleaf, Xenith have launched a new initiative for customers that helps to increase sustainability and environmental friendliness.

The program, PrintReleaf, allows you to contribute to reforestation projects around the world based on your print usage. Essentially, the more you print, the more you plant.

It’s an amazing software platform that ties sustainability right into your business processes by measuring paper consumption each month and then replanting trees across a network of SGS certified global forestry projects to neutralise your environmental impact from paper and printing.

“A Certification System and Software Platform for Automated Global Reforestation” (PrintReleaf)

It’s a great way to make paper-based processes more sustainable, especially where reducing print isn’t an option.

The way it works is very simple:

  1. You carry on printing as normal, but PrintReleaf measures your company’s paper consumption over time.
  2. The PrintReleaf program calculates how many trees were used to produce your paper consumption
  3. PrintReleaf then plants trees at the planting sites of your choice

How is the number of trees calculated?

The calculation of paper to trees is based on the idea that 8,333 sheets of standard A4 paper roughly equates to 1 tree.

In the UK, it’s thought that the average employee prints somewhere between 6,000 - 12,000 pieces of paper a year - that’s a big difference and will be based on a number of factors, but even taking the lower estimate, what this says is that the average UK employee prints the equivalent to 72% of a tree a year! And that’s just one employee!

If you’re looking to do the rough maths for your company, try multiplying the number of people in the business by 6,000 and then dividing the total number by 8,333.

(No. of Employees x 6000) / 8,333 = Number of Trees

Why try PrintReleaf?

It’s good for the environment and helps increase your company’s overall sustainability efforts. It’s that simple.

Partnering with Xenith to implement PrintReleaf alongside a print solution or digital workflow automation solution allows you to see a significant shift in your company’s printing habits towards sustainability.

How To Get Started with PrintReleaf

PrintReleaf is very easy to set up and get started with - especially if your company is a Xenith customer! PrintReleaf integrates directly with your current print management software and automatically takes care of the rest.

When working with Xenith, we will provide PrintReleaf with the relevant information so the software can access the print volume data and then once everything is set up, you can access an online dashboard that shows how things are progressing and the number of trees being planted on your company’s behalf.

Further still, through the PrintReleaf online dashboard, you can read all about various global biomass projects and select the projects that you would like your trees to be planted in each month.

To get started, contact your Xenith account manager and let them know you’re interested in implementing PrintReleaf for your company (terms apply). We’ll then handle the administrative set up and get you up and running.
