The power of print in business today

So much has changed in the digital age, but the power of print has never diminished - particularly in business, where print remains an essential form of communication.

Printing is still a critical component of marketing campaigns, customer interaction and workflows for most businesses, and provides a competitive edge for those who use it effectively.

Stand out from the competition

A survey conducted by FedEX found that 85% of consumers believe quality print and service go hand-in-hand. What’s more, four out of five small business owners successfully stand out from the competition simply by taking advantage of a professional printing service.

People still enjoy interacting with printed material. In a world of digital communication, print is familiar, tactile and comfortable. As a result, businesses can achieve far higher levels of engagement with marketing campaigns and customer service if they turn to print.

Digital workflows may improve the way you work, but print is powerful when it comes to customer interaction, and gives businesses of all sizes the opportunity to gain a competitive edge.

Customers can be won over simply by doing the basics. Printed business cards, brochures and other commonly used marketing materials might be exactly what the competition is lacking.

A world without paper?

A desire for tangible material is reflected in the FedEx survey, which found that 49% of respondents would “feel stressed or annoyed” in a world without paper.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise when you think about what matters most in life; handwritten thank you notes, wedding invites and birthday cards are still far more likely to arrive on paper than digitally.

It spans generations, too, and it might come as a surprise to discover that nearly half of the millennials surveyed by FedEx said they like to have something professionally printed at least once a month.

An online product image gallery doesn’t have the same impact as a glossy brochure held in the hand, but the power of print extends far beyond the sales operation of a business.

Printing may be powerful, but the importance of quality shouldn’t be underestimated. While nine out of 10 consumers agree there’ll always be a need for print, they’re unlikely to engage with material that suffers from low production standards.

Freedom!

Businesses can decide how, where and when to use print to its full benefit. It can be mixed with digital to create transparent, efficient workflows, or used as the sole vehicle for a worldwide marketing campaign.

The digital economy will continue to evolve, but print is still important to your business, its employees and customers.
